Social Value

Spectrum Property Care is in business to create a legacy of social value that benefits the many who live in our local communities.

We are not in business to deliver profits to shareholders or make private owners richer.

Our business is about enriching people’s lives through the creation of secure employment and the development of life skills to deliver essential services that strengthen our communities.

Our annual Apprenticeship Programme is a major investment in future skills and an effective means of addressing youth unemployment across our communities.

Our successful growth is built upon our well trained and highly skilled workforce of directly employed, locally recruited trade staff.

We believe in developing our people talent through a culture of coaching and mentoring and encouraging staff to take advantage of our Steps for Success programme to build future leaders.

We were the first Dorset based contractor to sign-up to the Living Wage and thereby ensure that our staff receive a fair salary in return for a good day’s work.

Our people stay with us for the long-term and enjoy the benefits of being part of a growing organisation.

We are accredited with Investors in People Gold standard.

Our social mission is to create a positive legacy for our communities through the provision of good quality employment and the provision of excellent services to property owners across the Southwest of England.

Our profits are reinvested back in social objectives such as funding new social housing construction and subsidising care and support services within our communities.

We are wholeheartedly committed to fairness and treating all our customers and employees with respect.

Our great teams deliver excellent services through processes which are designed to uphold our core values of equality for all, fairness and respect. All our staff receive diversity training and regular re-training and our senior management is represented on Spectrum's Diversity Board.

We go beyond our internal focus on diversity to activity work with our customers in order to improve equality and diversity outcomes which often result in improved practices being imported into our operations.

We employ a team of safety compliance professionals who are fully empowered to ensure that all reasonable and practicable means are in place to ensure that our staff follow safe working procedures that keep all our customers and members of the public free from hazards during the course of our work.

Spectrum Property Care is accredited under OHSAS 18001 to recognise its commitment to safety management.

We treasure our RoSPA Gold Awards in recognition of our work on safety management. However, we remain vigilant in order to avoid complacency and keep all working methods up to the latest safety standards whilst actively encouraging our staff to openly report any concerns they may have.

Our work involves the removal of high volumes of waste from buildings and we travel many business miles to deliver our great customer services. In addition we employ over 450 staff from 5 business centres.

However, we design our working practices to reduce and/or eliminate as much carbon waste as possible.

In partnership with accredited waste handlers, we ensure that over 80% of property waste is recycled rather than being sent to landfill.

All our jobs are intelligently scheduled to minimise travel distances and thereby reduce carbon emissions from our van fleet.

Our technology enables FaceTime and video linking to reduce travel, staff down time and carbon emissions.

Spectrum Property Care is internationally accredited under ISO 14001 to recognise its contribution to safe guarding our environment.

We encourage our staff to volunteer for community projects and help with a range of local activities such as charitable fund raising and sponsoring events.

Our employees have freely given their time to help repair damage to special needs schools and build training centres for the long-term unemployed.

We look forward each year to sending out sponsored dragon boat teams that help to raise over £20,000 for the great disability charity, Diverse-Abilities Plus.

Money we receive from the sale of scrap metal is donated it to local charities selected by our workforce. Beneficiaries include local air ambulance services and riding for the disabled charities.

Other community support includes the sponsorship of local sports teams and the promotion of social housing initiatives.

Just a quick note to say thank you for your and your Teams efforts to date. In the insurance world the South West has always been an area difficult to cover due to the widespread geography and distances between the major towns and cities. Since joining our network we have fewer rejections and complaints than ever before and this is predominantly as a result of the works being undertaken by Spectrum. To date you have been an invaluable addition to our Network and we look forward to continuing to work together in Partnership and growing our respective books of business. Mitie365
What can I say, there are huge smiley faces at school. You and the team you put in place are truly amazing. What you have all done is so important by saving us this outlay to fix the roof. Our faith in the community has been totally restored by your kindness Montacute School

As a Technical Officer for Dorset Accessible Homes Service in Dorset I have been involved in administering bathroom adaptations using Spectrum Property Care since December 2015 and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. The feedback from our clients and my personal experience from dealing direct with the contractors have been of the highest praise on their communication, consideration for the client and especially the quality and finish of work.
